Staff Spotlight: Jim Giuliano

Construction and entrepreneurship run in Jim Giuliano’s blood. He recalls his first job working as a laborer for his family’s masonry business, a business Jim’s brothers still run to this day. Those early days, working alongside his family, were an inspiration.


“I’m motivated by finishing up complex projects,” says Jim. “Whether that’s in my career and the work we do here at CSG or even at home. But particularly when a client recognizes and is appreciative of the hard work we do — that’s something I find to be inspiring.”

Jim has substantial experience in construction and thorough technical knowledge that spans all delivery methods. Known for working effectively with design and construction professionals to effectively manage complex public K-12 projects and programs, Jim’s comprehensive understanding of  the Connecticut Office of School Construction Grants & Review process and construction methods allows him to evaluate impacts to both budget and schedule while ensuring the highest value to the owner. 

Jim spent 27 years working for construction management firms including Gilbane and W.E. O’Neil Construction Company, where he was responsible for managing a wide range of projects including schools, pharmaceutical research facilities, corporate fit-out and federal buildings.

Prior to founding CSG, he  was employed by Capitol Region Education Council (CREC) where he gained invaluable owner’s representative experience on projects throughout Connecticut, including multi-school, multi-site design and construction programs for Goodwin University and the Town of Bloomfield . He has a Bachelor of Science degree from Central Connecticut State University, and is a Massachusetts Certified Public Purchasing Official (MCPPO).

One of his favorite projects from the early years, one he recalls with a great sense of pride, was the work undertaken at The Learning Corridor in Hartford. The complexity of the project, and the team’s ability to navigate the project’s twists and turns, is something Jim carried with him when starting CSG.

“It was a difficult task,” says Jim of The Learning Corridor project. “There were six buildings being built as well as a parking garage and it all had to be done within 18 months. But the group of architects, the construction manager, and the owner worked together to get it done. I met some really great people on that project that I still speak with today.”

Since founding CSG, Jim has continued to expertly juggle the complexities of multiple projects on tight deadlines. He’s known for his work on the on-going $400 million program management contract for the City of Norwalk, which continues to flourish and evolve thanks to his dedication to representing the best interests of his clients.  He’s proud of the work CSG has performed throughout Connecticut, and the organic diversification of the company’s portfolio which is deeply rooted in public school construction throughout the state.

“It amazes me that our team members take just as much, if not more, pride in their work to make sure the best interest of the owner’s always comes first,” says Jim.  “That dedication and attitude has made CSG what it is today. I’ve done nothing but take individuals and place them in situations that I believed they could manage, provided a little guidance and support when requested. Their success was a result of all their individual efforts.”

Looking to the future, Jim sees continued growth and new opportunities. 

“CSG has grown and sustained as a result of the talented and diverse team that we have assembled. We look forward to expanding into other markets utilizing the talents of our existing team members and giving them the opportunity to create a path within CSG of their own.”
