Staff Spotlight: Samantha D'Agostino

December 22nd, 2022

CSG Project Manager Samantha D’Agostino has been around construction her entire life. She recalls growing up with huge trucks pulling in and out of her driveway, and her father heading off to construction sites throughout the state. She says the work ethic she was introduced to at a young age is something she aspires to and continues to motivate her to this day.

“My dad’s family emigrated from Italy and built up a masonry business from scratch,” Samantha says. “That dedication to work, making it happen no matter what it takes, has always inspired me.”

During high school, Samantha became interested in engineering and architecture, leading her to the University of Connecticut’s School of Engineering. As an undergraduate, Samantha was a member of the Society of Women Engineers and Chi Epsilon (The Civil Engineering Honor Society). She interned for a bridge design company, as well as with Gilbane, working on their New Haven Schools project. The combination of working for a large construction firm and getting to visit the construction sites made her realize she was on the right path.

After graduating, Samantha served as a project engineer on both private and government projects, working with large design teams and owner’s representatives. She is an active ambassador for young women in the STEM fields. Most recently, she led a women’s group to help support the advancement of women in the construction industry.

“I have a lot of great friends in male dominated industries,” Samantha says. “Seeing them be successful, get promoted and doing well is so motivating.”

Samantha recently earned her Master's degree from UConn's School of Engineering Professional Education. She also holds a B.S.E. in Civil Engineering with a minor in Engineering Management.

During her time at CSG, she has worked closely on the construction at John F. Kennedy Middle School in Enfield, CT, serving the interest of both the school and the Town at large while also working closely with the construction manager. She is currently serving as Project Manager for the construction phase of Farmington High School, responsible for on-going coordination with the CM and keeping the building committee apprised of progress.

“I’m proud of the work at JFK because I was managing a lot of it myself. I was learning as I went, making a few mistakes and learning from them. It’s great to see the students using the spaces we built for them and seeing how happy the client is with our services and how we advocated for them throughout the construction process.”
