Staff Spotlight: Jon Gombotz

April 10th, 2023

When Jon Gombotz isn’t out at a construction site representing CSG, you can find him hanging out with his family, doing yard work, and playing sports. Softball, baseball, golf, football – depending on the season you’ll find Jon and his family participating in something. He’s always been inspired by the dedication of athletes: the meticulous attention they pay to their craft, the drive necessary to succeed.

“When I was younger I watched Michael Jordan play all the time and I always noticed not only his athletic ability, but also his mental drive,” says Jon. “That ability to see something through despite adversity is something that has stuck with me to this day.”

Jon applies that same sort of dedication to CSG, bringing his 20 years of experience working in projects in both the public and private sectors to his role as Project Manager.

Jon is a graduate of Central Connecticut State University, and spent several years working for construction management firms including KBE Building Corporation, Schimenti Construction Company, and Fortunato Construction Group, Inc., where he developed strong technical, organizational, and communication skills. He recalls putting those skills to work early in his career during a complex renovation program for Target at retail locations throughout the Northeast.

“We were remodeling multiple sites at the same time in New York, Connecticut, and New Hampshire,” says Jon. “The level of coordination and attention to detail was so important and in the end all the projects were turned over on time and everything was a success. It taught me a lot about project management.”

At CSG, Jon has been involved in a wide array of projects, tapping into his skills in contract negotiation and construction administration. He has worked on the renovation of Naramake Elementary School in Norwalk, Connecticut, a project undertaken as part of CSG’s ongoing program management contract with the City of Norwalk. He is actively providing onsite construction observation services for the phased construction of the new $66M North Branford High School.

Jon’s also contributed to the evaluation of conceptual design estimates associated with the planned Colchester Senior Center, which includes relocating the existing senior center to a newly constructed, larger facility.

He’s also been involved with the new Turf Field at Renbrook School, an independent, private day school in West Hartford. CSG is serving as Owner's Project Manager for various projects at the school, including the renovation of the existing library, building envelope/HVAC upgrades, and the installation of a new synthetic turf athletic field.
