Staff Spotlight: Mark Garilli

February 2nd, 2023

CSG Project Executive Mark Garilli is proud to represent CSG on any project site, but acknowledges that CSG’s work in affordable senior living projects represents the big impact their work can have.

“These folks are truly undeserved, and our small contributions can have such a big impact toward improving the lives of the residents,” says Mark. “When you experience firsthand how grateful these folks are, it gives you a real sense of pride in the work we do.”

Mark has 30 years of combined experience in construction management and the senior living industries. Mark got his start in the industry working at a local fence company, building and installing fence panels for residential properties.

“That’s where I really fell in love with construction,” says Mark.

He began his professional career working in the trades for over 10 years before putting down his tool belt and starting his commercial construction career at KBE Building Corporation. At KBE, Mark served in a variety of roles including Project Engineer, Superintendent, and Project Manager. He was responsible for the construction of higher education facilities, including Connecticut College and Saint Mary's College of Maryland. He was also responsible for multi-phased renovations at Tower One/Tower East, an assisted living community in New Haven. He transitioned from his in the field construction responsibilities to the role of Vice President of Operations/Chief Operating Officer at Tower One/Tower East, where he managed operational staff providing maintenance, housekeeping and security services to senior and assisted living residents.  In a matter of a few short years, he was promoted to President and CEO, leading the organization through a year-long transitional leadership process and developing a long-term Master Plan in partnership with the board of directors.

Mark then moved on to serve as COO for Masonicare, a statewide provider of healthcare and retirement communities for seniors, where he gained invaluable experience and a true owner’s perspective in operations, strategic communications, facility management and construction. “Translating that experience into global project assessment for our clients has proven to be a great value add for CSG,” says Mark.

Mark holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Construction Management from Roger Williams University and is a graduate of the LeadingAge National Leadership Academy. He currently holds the position of Immediate Past Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Connecticut Assisted Living Association.

During his time at CSG, Mark has provided executive level consulting and support for West Hartford Fellowship Housing, a non-profit provider of affordable housing for seniors. He has implemented capital improvement projects for Pierce Care, United Methodist Homes and Federation Homes, and has played an integral role in managing project teams for the new Colchester Senior Center and Farmington High School.

Outside of the office, you can find Mark in a hockey rink as a coach and proud parent, spending time with his family and his dogs, and out on the golf course.
